Essex Outdoors is part of Essex County Council and delivers a range of high quality and high impact outdoor learning programmes at 7 centres both within the county and in Wales.
In particular, Essex Outdoors provides outdoor learning opportunities to young people. In 2005 34,287 young people visited our centres and took part in over 250,000 activity sessions. In addition, a total of 4,142 local and national certificates were issued through the Essex Outdoors team.
Centres
Our centres provide a wide range of challenging outdoor environments from the flatlands of Essex and the waters of the North Sea to the mountains of Wales. Most of our centres are residential, with accommodation for between 40 and 300 participants. Our small environmental day centres are at Daws Hall and Pelham, and Wicken House provides a unique residential study and conferencing facility.
