Information for Leaders/Teachers

We pride ourselves on our ability to deliver high quality outdoor education, and part of that commitment means making sure that you have all the information that you need - before, during and after your visit.

When planning any visit to one of centres, please contact us to discuss your aims and objectives for the trip - our staff will then work with you to examine the personal and/or learning outcomes that can be met via your program, and identify any cross-curricular links that can be made.

If you are an educational establishment, you may also be required to submit a request for visit approval to your local authority. Our Educational Visits Advisors will answer any questions that you may have – please see below for contact details. If you require copies of our risk assessments or codes of practice, these can all be downloaded using the links below.

When you make your booking, you will receive details of your program, confirmation of the price, and our terms and conditions. Upon arrival at our centres you will be given a welcome pack, and a dedicated member of staff will be assigned to you to deal with any further queries that may have; and when you depart you will have the opportunity to complete an evaluation form, so that we can continue to strive to meet your needs.

Information for Parents

As a parent you will want to know that all of our activities, although adventurous, are also educational, safe, and delivered by competent staff.

In line with our codes of practice, all of the activities offered by Essex Outdoors are delivered by staff that have been trained in accordance with both Essex County Council and national governing body (NGB) guidelines. All of our centres have also been inspected and approved by the Adventurous Activities Licensing Authority (AALA).

Furthermore, all of our staff have undergone Criminal Record Bureau checks, and have attended child protection and/or safeguarding training. Qualified First Aiders are also always on site at all of our centres, and where residential accommodation is provided a duty member of staff is always on-site 24-hours a day.
