We can offer Geography, Biology and Environmental Studies courses at KS3, GCSE, AS and A2 level, at the well equipped Pelham Centre for Environmental Education or the Daws Hall Reserve. Alternatively, we can arrange a course at a site local to you.
The Environmental Education team can provide all the materials needed for fieldwork and data interpretation, complementing your work at school. Laptops are used for data logging and data handling, so that results can be collated and interpreted whilst ensuring that the maximum time is spent on outdoor investigations.
We can accommodate up to 30 students at KS3 (or whole year groups over consecutive days), and 25 at A-level on courses lasting one to five days. Knowledge and understanding of the environment is a key part of the Science curriculum: Essex Outdoors offers the opportunity for practical ecological study e.g. comparing river and brook, and looking at pollution and other human influences.
For courses lasting more than one day other local sites can be used to extend the work, including semi-natural ancient woodlands, Wildlife Trust reserves, unimproved flower-rich grassland and further sites on the River Stour which are all within reach.
All of our leaders are experienced and adaptable Environmental Education instructors: to discuss your precise requirements please contact us on 01245 223342, or click here to send us an email.
