This award is for leaders of walking groups in summer conditions in non-mountainous hilly terrain, known variously as uplands, moors, bogs, hills, fells or downs. Such areas are often subject to harsh weather conditions, requiring an element of self-sufficiency, and this scheme will help you develop the necessary skills and experience.
The course is ideal for keen walkers or potential leaders who want to consolidate their existing skills; the Walking Group Leader award is also a pre-requisite for leading young people out in non-mountainous upland terrain.
This is a residential course with all accommodation and food provided by Maes y Lade. All training will be conducted by our qualified instructors, and a kit list will be sent with booking confirmation
Registration with the Mountain Leader Training Board for the Walking Group Leader course and 12 months experience with a minimum of 20 days walking in appropriate terrain prior to booking onto a training course is needed. References/Useful Links: mtle.org
